
There are two overwhelmingly important factors in tradeshow exhibiting: Exhibit attraction, and traffic density.
“Hot leads” can be found at any show, large or small. The question is, what percentage of that show’s attendees are YOUR potential “hot leads”? Hypothetically speaking, lets say that 10% of the attendees at your next tradeshow are the people you are trying to reach... In other words, if you took the time to explain your company’s propositional statement to 100 of the show’s attendees, you should end up with 10 solid “hot leads” from that 100. But, if you stopped 1000 attendees and delivered your sales message to the crowd, the same 10% would equate to 100 solid “hot leads” for the identical show.
So, after correctly selecting the right trade show that uniquely caters to your target market, the only thing restricting your success would be the simple “law of attraction”. The more attendees your exhibit can attract, the more effective your lead generation should be.

At a tradeshow, the booth staff must stop each attendee, identify the potential level of interest, deliver a quick “elevator pitch”, and then (if qualified) collect that attendee’s badge information for follow-up... Thus, each badge swipe is considered a potential “hot lead”. This process may take 5 minutes for each interaction between staff and attendee. And, with only 60 minutes in each hour, the maximum number of interactions possible by any one sales person would be 12 per hour... Or, using our hypothetical 10%, each staff member has the potential to generate 1.2 “hot leads” per hour...
What if you could attract 30 attendees at a time, or 300 attendees at a time? What if you could deliver a positive and effective “elevator sales pitch” to that entire crowd at the same time? And then, what if the interested 10% in that crowd would self qualify their potential, and stroll up to your sales staff for a more detailed and serious discussion? To top it all off, what if you could repeat this process every half hour? Many would say it’s impossible or it would require a miracle. In truth, the only way you could accomplish this kind of lead generation would be to bend the simple “laws of attraction”... and to bend the laws of nature is the utter definition of “magic”...
